Tweed Bike Boxes is delighted to support local athletes on their adventures. We are proud to support the incredibly talented local athlete Sharon Bird. Stay tuned for podium pictures - there are going to be lots of them!!

I ran for both Ireland and Northern Ireland internationally in cross country and Mountain running disciplines – my biggest achievements being a Team Bronze medallist at the World mountain running Championships, Scottish Ultra Champion 2012 and 9th Place in the London Marathon.

Due to injury 3 years ago, I was no longer able to run - but still competitive I decided to give cycling a go and with my love of the mountains, I had an aim of competing in - and winning - the Haute Route (https://www.hauteroute.org/events/overview/alpe-dhuez-2018)

In these 3 years, I have not only achieved this but have grown to love cycling and racing in general – most recently moving into eRacing.

Having qualified for the first ever British Championships eRacing this year - the live finals were held in London, where I won Bronze.

I am excited for this coming season in eRacing as I believe this new area of cycling is only going to gain in popularity and status.

There is already a World Championship race planned and Canyon have recently announced the first ever pro e-Racing team, with many more sure to follow suit.

Although this area of cycling is controversial with opinions very much divided….for me….I love cycling and racing outdoors, but being an older athlete who works full time – in reality, riding for a pro-team in real life is not an option.

eRacing and riding enables me to still be competitive and fit in high-quality training around life.
